The restoration

Print

Last year we have started restoring the Castle. The first step within the restoring project was to prevent the castle from sustaining any more damage as a result of the lack of maintenance which was caused due to long term vacancy. During this first step the following items were taken care of:

  • Emergency repairs to the roof
  • Excess bushes and ivy were removed
  • Leakage repairs
  • Clearing debris
  • Securing inventory
  • Trimming of plants, hedges and trees
  • Making the castle more visible for by-passers
  • Cleaning of outer walls
  • Removal or covering of rust to prevent further corrosion
  • Fixing of locks to prevent burglary and vandalism
  • Restoring current energy and water connections.

The activities named above were done with love and affection. Besides the activities in and around the castle, work has also started on the renovation of the coach-house that lies next to the castle. We expect this renovation to be completed before the start of 2009.

We are currently exploring the possibilities for a cost-efficient energy supply for the castle. In which we are currently focussing on energy through earth warmth. If you have any ideas please do not hesitate to contact us.

Together with the architect we are drawing up a plan in which we can renovate the castle while complying with the current quality standards and make this into a rewarding and maintainable object without losing the historic components or the unique charisma of the castle.
